Colorado Network for Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program (TOP®)

Be Part of the Colorado Network for Wyman's Teen Outreach Program®! Be the change in Colorado!

Wyman's Teen Outreach Program® is a comprehensive youth development strategy that promotes the positive development of adolescents through a combination of curriculum-guided group discussion and community service learning. The program provides teens with the necessary supports and opportunities to prepare for successful adulthood and avoid problem behavior.

 

Wyman's TOP® has demonstrated the following results:

Evidence Based Outcomes:
52% Reduction in the risk of suspension*
60% Reduction in the risk of course failure*
53% Reduction in the risk of pregnancy or fathering a child*
Observed Outcome:
60% Reduction in the risk of school dropout**

 

The Brookings Institute in their 2007 report to the US Congress, 'Cost Effective Investments in
Children,' recognized TOP® as one of the best programs in the country – stating that every $1 invested in Wyman's TOP®, $1.29 return on investment is produced.

Deliver Wyman's TOP® Successfully as a Colorado Affiliate with Colorado Youth Matter!

Colorado Youth Matter works directly with sites through the process of successfully implementing Wyman's TOP® through a cost-sharing model to make this nationally recognized program more accessible in Colorado. As skilled and experienced trainers and technical assistance (TA) providers for over 20 years in Colorado, Colorado Youth Matter will provide ongoing support, training and guidance to ensure your TOP® program is effective and sustainable. Colorado Youth Matter can provide up to ten hours of technical assistance and program planning, implementation and evaluation support and assistance.

 

What to Expect as a Colorado Network for Wyman's TOP® Affiliate:

• Implement the TOP® Program with fidelity to the process described in the training manual called "Following the TOP® Approach," including but not limited to:
  • Operating weekly TOP® sessions for a minimum of 9 months per year, meeting at least 25 meetings per school year, utilizing lesson plans from the Changing Scenes© curriculum.
  •  Maintaining at least 1 Facilitator per 25 youth at each TOP® Club.
  • Organizing and implementing community service learning of at least 20 hours/school year for the youth enrolled.
  • Implementing pre and post program impact assessments for each participant as specified in the training manual and recording evaluation documentation on TOPnet online.

• Provide an administrative Coordinator for the TOP® program.
• Provide funding to Colorado Youth Matter for training sufficient number of TOP® Facilitators.
• Coordinate with Colorado Youth Matter to ensure annual site visits to each Facilitator (Wyman Inc. may also attend these trainings)

 

The fees associated with being a Colorado Network for Wyman's TOP® Affiliate are determined by location, support needed, annual membership fees, site visits (including with Wyman Inc) costs, curriculum costs and training costs.
