Sexual Health 101

People seem to talk an awful lot about sex – what it is, what it isn’t, right and wrong ways to avoid getting pregnant or an STI.  Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what is true and what is plain out crazy wrong (like you can’t get pregnant if you have sex standing up – false!).  Make sure the information you trust comes from someone you trust, like parents, teachers, and health professionals.

Here are some sites we trust to give honest and judgment free answers to any question you might have about your sexual health:

  • Teen Clinic – Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center:  Answers to almost any question you could think of about your sexual health.  Can’t find an answer to your question?  Anonymously submit a question on the website or text it in.
  • Teen Talk – Planned Parenthood:  Another place you can find answers to questions about anything from dating and relationships to body image to pregnancy prevention.  You can also submit your unanswered questions.
  • Stay Teen – The National Campaign:  Lots of information about healthy relationships, teen pregnancy, abstinence, birth control, and more (be sure you check out the section about those crazy myths you hear!)
  • Scarletten – Sex Ed for the Real World:  Think you have a question about sexual health that no one has asked?  Think again! (and if you can’t find it here, you can always submit your own, too)
  • It’s Your Sex Life – MTV:  Help on talking to your partner, pregnancy prevention, info about STIs, getting tested, finding a clinic, and more.
